Mutriku, a global benchmark in Wave Energy

The NEREIDA MOWC project is a success story that, after 15 years of operation, has validated the technical viability of wave energy and its connection to the electrical grid
As part of its work to accelerate wave energy deployment across the Atlantic Area, AWESDI has released one of its first technical outputs: a high‑resolution database of atmospheric and oceanic variables together with a collection of spatially detailed maps of marine energy resources along the Atlantic coastline.
The Atlantic coast hosts some of the most promising wave energy resources in Europe, yet wave energy remains far from large-scale deployment.
So, what is holding it back?
